The Springfield Science Museum on the Quadrangle in Springfield is adorned with several hexagonal bas relief sculptures depicting animals and plants from the natural world. High up on the facade, on the northwest end of the building is a sculpture showing a symmetrical array of four moths surrounding and flying away from a caterpillar.

Clearly they are lepidoptera, but notice the large bulky bodies and the feathery non-clubbed antennae, definite signs that these are indeed moths and not their more beloved cousins butterflies.

The Springfield Science Museum is located at:
21 Edwards Street
Springfield, MA 01103
Type of insect: Moths
