When the Route 108 (Bakersfield Road) bridge was determined to be insufficient for modern traffic in the late Sixties, a wider bridge was built about 200 feet away.
The old bridge, with a decorative brick deck, stone benches and lots of planters, is now promoted as the "Bridge of Flowers & Lights," a pleasant place to sit and listen to the water coming over the dam, or look at the peaceful scene downstream.
