"16. The ANTHONY WAYNE MONUMENT, NW. corner Hayden Park, Harmer St., and Maumee Ave., is a heroic-size equestrian statue of the general for whom the city is named. The statue sculptured by Charles E. Mulligan of Chicago, was dedicated in 1918." (Indiana: A Guide to the Hoosier State - 1941)
Today, the statue still stands but now is Freimann Square in the downtown area. The statue was moved from Hayden Park in 1973 into its current location. Hayden Park was renamed Memorial Park in 1986.
