This marker stands on the banks of the Blackwater River in Franklin County, Virginia, near the site of the colonial for by the same name. The text of the marker reads:

"Near here stood a stockade erected by Capt. Nathaniel Terry and garrisoned by men under his command. Washington made ;Terry's Fort' a link in his chain of forts and inspected it in the fall of 1756."

This marker is locted in the southbound lane of U.S. Route 220 at the Blackwater Wayside in Franklin County, Virginia.
