Alexander Calder is a famous American abstract sculptor. In fact, his humungous Flamingo is just a few blocks from here. This much smaller work is entitled Flying Dragon and is dated 1975. It is made of red painted steel plate.
According to the Wikipedia article (
visit link) about the sculpture, the piece is intended to represent a dragonfly.
