The first peace pole to be erected in the Springfield area is at the Grace Lutheran Church on Route 20 in West Springfield. It was dedicated on October 31, 2010. The members of the church were joined by guests from the Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts as well as many others from the surrounding neighborhood. The children of both organizations made peace prayer flags and planted bulbs at the site. A peace garden with benches for the public to enjoy will be added next.
