Long Description:The Bonnechere caves are an example of a karst feature. Discovered in 1853 the caves were first entered and explored in 1953. By 1955 they were opened as a tourist attraction by the family that still owns the land today!
The cave was originally accessed through a 'sinkhole', a collapse of the roof at one point, but to facilitate tourism a new opening was widened, steps poured in concrete, and the extremities of the cave are pumped dry for full access.
A popular local tourist stop, there is an admission fee for the tour of the cave.
