The church St. Peter und Paul in the old city of Bern was built 1858-1864 and renovated in 1998. It is considered a significant example of the neo-gothic style in Switzerland. There are many reminiscences to famous French Gothic cathedrals, but it is much smaller than them.
When it was built it was the first Roman Catholic church in Bern after the reformation. With the schism of 1875 it became Christian Catholic and was declared the cathedral of the Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland, which is a small denomination with about 14,000 members in all.
