Massachusetts Korean War Veterans Memorial commemorates the 1,500 men and women from Massachusetts who were casualties, and the 168 men who are still MIA.
Located at the Charlestown Navy Yard Park in Charlestown, MA, this memorial pays tribute to the participants in the "Forgotten War". The central figure is a soldier on sentry duty, fighting of the cold while looking straight ahead. He is surrounded on five sides by six columns which bear the names of the fallen engraved on bronze plaques. Above the columns are the names of the battles that occurred during the Korean War. A number of dedicated benches, where visitors and rest and contemplate circle the memorial. Dedicated, donor bricks completely surround the central monument.
As you step into the memorial you activate and audio playback system which allows visitors to listen to the veteran's experiences in the war.
