The Goodwin Schoolhouse was built in 1821 by Mr. Goodwin on his own property. He hired a a teacher to teach his own children and those of his neighbors. The school remained in operation until 1855 when all the students were transferred to other East Hartford school. The building has since been moved to Martin Park where it part of a museum with the Makens Bemont house.
