Dr. ELLIS KACKLEY
CAME TO SODA SPRINGS IN 1898, 3 DAYS OUT OF MEDICAL SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE.
PEOPLE SEEKING HIS EXPERTISE CAME FROM ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. HIS PATIENTS KEPT THE HOTELS IN SODA SPRINGS FILLED.
EXCEPT FOR SERVICE DURING WORLD WAR I, HE PRACTICED HERE UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1943.

DR ELLIS KACKLEY WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CARIBOU COUNTY HOSPITAL.
WITH A $30,000 BOND AND HIS $3,000 DONATION, CARIBOU COUNTY'S 30 BED HOSPITAL OPENED IT'S DOORS ON DEC. 1, 1925 AT THIS SITE.
HE AND HIS SON, DR. EVAN KACKLEY DONATED MUCH OF THE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. THE HOSPITAL SERVED THE COUNTY UNTIL 1969 WHEN THE NEW CARIBOU MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OPENED.
