The Historic Anderson House was established in 1856 and was considered to be the oldest operating hotel in the state of Minnesota. They were best known for their collection of cats that guests could bring into their rooms for the night. Bad economy forced them to close in March of 2009.
After sitting vacant for almost three years, the building was purchased by Brian and Rachel Yenter and was re-opened for business on December 31, 2011. A Small Town Inspirations Museum was created in the former restaurant area and was opened in March of 2012.
The building itself is on the National Register of Historic Places.
