Welcome to Alamo Siding - a nice stop on the Galena Trail (a rails to trails hike through the Selkirk Mountains). This used to be a major centre of industry during the Silver Rush in this area - boasting a large mine concentrator, hydroelectric plant and associated support businesses and residences. A drop in metal prices, the Great Depression and eventually flooding cut off all road or rail access to this area. All that is left now are many foundations, dilapitated machinery, collapsed buildings and the roadbed of the old Canadian Pacific railway.
Gone are the 200 inhabitants of 1904.
Reason for Abandonment: Economic
Date Abandoned: 05/01/1955
