The brick James Loomis House (1822), on the west side of the Broad Street Green, its gable end to the road, and its door in one corner, is duplicated may times on Windsor Avenue to the south. - Connecticut: A Guide to Its Roads, Lore, and People,  Windsor section, pg. 321.

The house remained in residential use until 1970 when it was purchased and converted to a bank. The exterior restoration has been sympathetic to the original fabric at the same time accommodating the new use. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 as the Col. James Loomis House.
