Quick Description: This turtle crossing can be found on the heavily traveled Sturgeon Lake Road in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Location: Minnesota, United States
Date Posted: 7/24/2011 6:54:35 AM
Waymark Code: WMC4CF
Views: 4

Long Description:
We did not see or help any turtles, as it was the wrong time of the year when we were here. I did, however, find a really cool snake skin on the side of the road.

Sturgeon Lake Road is heavily traveled with traffic from the nearby Treasure Island Resort and Casino. In researching this crossing I learned that it was not officially marked until sometime after June 2010. Prior to that many turtles were killed on this road and inspired many home-made turtle crossing signs along the road (visit link)

How often turtles cross:

Months most seen crossing: June

Visit Instructions:
Describe what happened. Example
"Mother Blanding had made her nest between the goldenrod and bluestem outside my window late last June.
By chance we were sitting on the porch when we noticed little blandings in the same location we had seen the mother take 2 months earlier."
