Prof. PhDr. et JUDr. Edvard Beneš (born on May 28, 1884 Kožlany, Bohemia (then part of Austria-Hungary) was a Czechoslovak politician. He was known to be a skilled diplomat, and was one of the leaders of the Czechoslovak independence movement. He later served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister of Czechoslovakia. He is famous for not abiding with the Munich Agreement, which forced Czechoslovakia to cede the Sudetenland to Nazi Germany, triggering the German invasion of Czechoslovakia on October 1.
