This seems like quite a work of art but in reality there are or were tons of them. The original design came from Europe and was copied by two casting firms here in the US at the turn of the century, J.L Mott and J. W. Fiske. This is one is by J.L. Mott. It is made of Zinc and was painted in bronze upon delivery. Over 200 of the Fiske Neptune fountains were delivered but so far I have not found numbers on the Mott version.
To its credit though here it is over a hundred years later and its still flowing. For that alone it deserves respect and recognition. I can say it is quite impressive when you see it in person.
