This monument stands in front of the west entrance to the Holmes County Courthouse in Millersburg, Ohio. Each face of the best lists a general for each of four wars, with inscription. The War of 1812 is commerated with Jackson on the east side.

Although this monument stands in front of the west entrance to the Holmes County Courthouse, it faces north so that the old jail house forms the background as one faces it. There is a bed of flowers surrounding the monument with an array of small U.S. flags.

The monument consist of a statue of a Union Soldier atop a granite pillar with a dedicatory inscription, and on each side of the base are inscribed memorials to veterans of four wars along with the name of a prominent general from that war. The date 1887 appears on the back of the soldier at the bottom.

Six Soldiers of the
Revolutionary War were
subsequently Residents of
Holmes County, Ohio.

JACKSON.
In memory of the
Soldiers of the War of A.D. 1812
who became citizens
of Holmes County, Ohio.

SCOTT.
More than Two Hundred men
from Holmes County, Ohio,
served in the War with Mexico.
They were engaged in the
Battles of Cerro Gordo, Contreras,
Cherubusco, Molino Del Ray
Chapultepec and San Cosme.

GRANT.
In response to the different
calls of the Government,
Two Thousand and Fourteen Men
went from Holmes County during the
War of the Rebellion.
They were engaged in many Battles
from Philippi to Appomattox.
