This bridge is on the old Royal road from Ponta do Sol to Madalena do Mar. THe road was used by the locals by foot or with the traditional Ox carts. The bridge isn´t large enough for a modern car to cross so the road was moved a few meters north and the bridge and path became a pedestrian path. The bridge is a live testemonial of the dificult roads of Madeira.
