The capsule is outside the visitors center of the historic site. The plaque reads:
The past is the present, isn't it? It's the future too" Eugene O'Neill: Long Day's Journey Into Night.
Time capsule placed by Eugene O'Neill Foundation and the National Park service. 1988."
O'Neill is the only American Playwright to win the Nobel Prize for literature. He lived at the house in the 1930s and 1940s. The house was saved in the 1970s from being turned into an apartment complex by the people of Danville.
