The lake is now landlocked, and its waters are salty. It’s the largest lake between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean, and it’s the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere. It is home to an abundant array of wildlife, and so are the lake’s shoreline marshes. Bison, antelope, deer, bobcats, coyotes and elk roam freely on an island within it's waters. Migratory birds also abound in the lake’s marshes. We have visited this lake many time and the illustrated book gives a great picture view of the natural wonder. Many waymarks have been posted around the Great Salt Lake. The posted coordinates are at the Great Salt Lake Marina, west of Salt Lake City off Interstate 80.
