A new red plaque that states :

THE BULL HOTEL
THIS FORMER COACHING INN
DATES BACK TO 1609.IT WAS
HERE IN 1792 THAT THE GRAND
JUNCTION CANAL WAS PLANNED,
LATER TO BECOME PART OF THE
GRAND UNION CANAL.

The inaugural meeting of the Grand Union Canal Company was held in the Bull Inn, Stony Stratford.

However, the closest the canal came to the town was at Old Stratford, part of the Buckingham Arm of the main canal.which is now disused, dry and overgrown.

see link for more info on the canal :http://www.mkheritage.co.uk/bcs/index.html
