The Scene
A glass elevator climbs five flights past the Hyatt Regency hotel's
22-floor atrium, revealing a window to the world--or at least
downtown Atlanta. This low-lit lounge, comfortably fitted with
plush black and red leather furnishings, makes its 360-degree
rotation every 52 minutes; according to a friendly server, though,
how fast it spins really depends on how much you drink. A skyline
landmark, the donut beneath the blue dome offers quite a romantic
panorama.
The Draw
The views and brews attract convention-goers, nostalgic tourists
and the occasional Atlantan looking for a new perspective on the
city. A lengthy menu of blended beverages includes the sweet,
smoothie-like Polaris Peach and the syrupy Coffee & Curacao
Cream Dream. Bartenders also know their way around a martini glass.
Drink prices ($9 on average) may seem sky-high to some, but it's an
experience you can't get anywhere else in the city and very few
places in the country.
