Three CCC camps were established in Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park in 1933 - 1942, one at each at the battlefields of Chancellorsville, Wilderness and Spotsylvania Court House.
Camp MP-1 was built near the location of the old McCoull House on the Spotsylvania Court House battlefield.
When the camp was closed in April 1936, the VA state police recruit school moved in for a brief time. Eventually, the buildings were removed except for the shop building which is currently used by the Park Service for maintenance and equipment - the only remnant of the Bloody Angle CCC Camp MP-1.
