Hidden in the brush at the entrance to the Clayton P. Chamberlain Estate, 1228 Windsor Ave., is a Monument erected (1907) by the Hartford Dental Society to Dr. Horace H. Hayden of Windsor (1769-1844), who established the first dental school in America (at John Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, February 1, 1840), and founded the American Society of Dental Surgeons (1840).  The monument is a square, brick pillar, 12 feet, topped by an illuminate glass globe.  A bronze tablet on the face records memorable events in Dr. Hayden's career. - Connecticut: A Guide to Its Roads, Lore and People, Windsor section, pgs. 323-324.

The monument as described has been removed possibly when Windsor Avenue was widened however the bronze plaque was preserved and mounted on a boulder.  It is now located across the street from the Palisado Green next to Hezekiah Chaffee House, now a museum operated by the Windsor Historical Society.
