The Site of the Matthew Grant Homestead, where an ancestor of General U.S. Grant once lived is marked - Connecticut: A Guide to It Roads, Lore, and People, Windsor Section, pg 325.
The marker is on a city owned plot of land in front of 160 Palisado Avenue. The monument is a contributing object to the Palisado Avenue Historic District.

Who For The Sake Of Religious Liberty
Left England In 1630 And Dorchester In 1635.
They Were Among The Founders Of Windsor, Of Which He Was
For Man Years Surveyor, Recorder, Selectman and Deacon.
His Best Epitaph Is In His Own Words "I Have Been Careful To Do Nothing On One Man's Desire."
They Were The Ancestors Of General Ulysses S. Grant, 18th President Of The United States.
