A sign at the site reads as follows:
ST. VINCENT'S
1916 - 2006

In 1916, the Daughters of Charity established a hospital in Jacksonville, now St. Vincent's, to provide care to the sick and poor of North Florida upon the urging of local businessmen and the Bishop. There have been tremendous changes in medicine in the past 90 years, but the mission of St. Vincent's remains the same: to witness to the healing ministry of Christ.

This beautiful sculpture was commissioned by St. Vincent's on the occasion of its 90th anniversary in recognition of the dedicated services of the Daughters of Charity in Jacksonville. The figures represent four Daughters of Charity in traditional dress featuring the well known cornette, an international symbol of charity.

The first sister is contemplating the work of the Mission, the second sister is praying for the success of the Mission, the third sister is offering bread, a symbol of gifts to the poor in the community, the fourth sister is planting the seeds of cultivation for friendships, partnerships, and support from the community.
