In the Wasatch-Cache National Forest Lone Peak Wilderness Area up Little Cottonwood canyon there are some great trails into the high mountain peaks. White Pine Trail is 4.1 miles (6.6 km) to the White Pine Lake where it terminates. Water from the snow melt and springs form a cool stream from the canyon. Great to cool off with after a good hike.
Located about 30 minutes southeast from downtown Salt Lake City in the Little Cottonwood canyon and about 1 mile east of Snowbird ski resort. Take I-15 south to 9000 south, turn left (east) on 9000 south and follow that road about 8 miles up the canyon to the White Pine canyon parking area (see parking coordinates).
