When Henry Couture sought to open a diner in 1925, the city fathers gave him a hard time: polite society looked down their noses at "dining cars" and a lady would never even enter one. He added flower boxes and other frills to attract the gentile crowd, and eventually won them over.
A fire severely damaged the original diner late in 1969, such that it had to be completely rebuilt, re-opening for business in early 1970.
The diner has changed hands more than once, but they continue to satisfy with traditional diner food and a nice selection of Greek specialties.
