The Millennium Sculpture stands over a time capsule placed in on New Year's Eve, 1999 during the city's First Night celebration.

A stainless steel pyramid atop four granite posts looks very much like a steeple; inside the pyramid is a pendulum gong.

The intent of the whole is to represent the passage of time.

The capsule is to be opened December 31, 2099 and every 100 years thereafter.
