The museum is entirely dedicated to the work of Alfred Worthington who came to Aberystwyth for his health in 1870. He did many works of art of the local area, and the painting are stunning.
The medium is oil on canvas and they are kept in a very good condition with very little in the way of damage or fading.
"Alfred Worthington was born in Kent in 1835 and came to Aberystwyth on the advice of his doctor in about 1870.
He died at the age of 89 in 1925. He worked as a photographer for several years, but soon established himself as an artist, and produced many hundreds of oil paintings for both the local and the tourist market. He also painted pictures on slate for fireplaces and other items that were enameled at one or more of the Slate Enameling works in Aberystwyth." - with thanks to the ceredigion site here:- (
