The remains are located in the Stony Swamp area of the Greenbelt, not far from the Old Quarry Trail.

The stone foundations reveal two large rooms with stairs at an entrance on the south side.
The ruins are roughly in the centre of a forty-acre rectangle of plantation and open land. Rather than railroad use, the open land suggests that the building was part of a farm, pasture and/or orchard. According to the 1879 illustrated atlas for Carleton county, the land was occupied by H Young.
The building appears to line up with the nearby railroad which is now part of the Trans Canada Trail system. However, the foundations are located more than 70 metres from the rail bed and likely pre-date the Canada Central Railway which dates from 1870.
Though well grown over with vegetation, these remains are frequently visited. Beware of dangers left by more modern visitors.
