This marker is mounted on the Maurin Theater, now renamed the St. John Theater, which is still in use as a live stage theater and the Cultural and Civic center for the Parish.

Really great place to visit. Every summer, the theater puts on musical plays or shows. The theater also has a rich history here in the heart of the "River Parishes".

Maurin's Theater, built in 1931, by Louis J. Maurin, has long served the community as a cinema and fine arts show place. After renovations in 1981, it re~opened as St. John Theater and has been designated as the Cultural and Civic Center of St. John The Baptist Parish in Reserve, Louisiana.
