This 1983 neon sculpture is entitled "Human Nature/Life Death" and is located in Chicago's Art Insitute (coordinates are for the Institutes' Michigan Avenue entrance.) Photography of permanent exhibits is permitted in the Museum.
The artist is Bruce Nauman.
The piece has several words overlapping each other in neon in a circular pattern with three spokes inside. The words go on and off in erratic patterns...with a few lit at any one time.
The accompanying placard indicates that the piece was originally displayed at the Madison and State subway entrance.
