Maytag Park is a community park located at 301 South 11th Avenue West.

Maytag park is comprised of 40 acres and was developed in 1935 and formally dedicated in 1937.
Originally operated as a private park for public use, ownership and operation of the park was
transferred to the City of Newton Parks Department in January 1977. Maytag Park has picnic areas,
playground, tennis courts, basketball court, outdoor pool and bathhouse, bandshell, disc golf
course, three reservable shelters, one open air shelter, former caretakers residence, maintenance
shop and storage building.

Maytag Pool Fred Maytag Pool was originally built in 1935. Some structural repairs and refurbishing took place in 1977. The original waterslide measured 172' long and was added in 1986. The major
renovation project took place in 1997-98. The original pool was demolished and a new 14000 sq ft.facility built in its place. The original bathhouse was retained and extensively remodeled. The new pool includes 2 waterslides, a 205' open flume and a 187' enclosed tube slide. A 13' deep diving well with both 1 and 3 meter boards. Six 25 meter lap lanes, fountains and other amenities. A totally new filter building and access drive was constructed as part of the project. An additional fenced grassy sunbathing area was added along the West fence in 2002
