A panoramic view of the Ashley Valley and the community of Vernal sits atop a knoll on the mountains north of the town. The map and illustration table provides an excellent tool to get you orientated to the grand view you can see. On a clear day you can see the Colorado mountains which are 75 miles away. There are also interesting facts about the scenic view you are looking at, like the Red Fleet which was named such because from certain locations, the three rocky projections look like three battleships in the high seas. The "you are here" designation provides the needed orientation point along with the direction arrow to show you the directions to look.
Artist / Creator: SF Phosphates Limited Company which operates a mine in the area set up the display at the rest stop.
Location / Access: North eastern Utah, take Highway 191 north out of Vernal. The road will zig zag up the mountains to the view / rest area. An excellent place to stop and view the valley below.
