The city hall is one of four public administrations with politic responsability over the city of Barcelona, being the others Administración General del Estado de España, la Generalidad de Cataluña, and la Diputación de Barcelona. It´s origins are on the Consejo de Ciento (The undred coucil), an autoregulated municipal government formed by one hundred citizens.
The city hall is located in the Plaça de Sant Jaume ( Plaza San Jaime in Catalan) in a building located in front of la Generalitat de Cataluña.
