Located on Chicago's Miracle Mile, the Water Tower is part of the Old Chicago Water Tower District along with the nearby Chicago Avenue Pumping Station, and Chicago Fire Department Fire Station No. 98.
The Water Tower was the only public building in the fire zone that survived the great fire of 1871.
It now serves as a Visitors Center.
