Built in 1869, this water tower is now an icon of Chicago. It is only public building in the fire zone that survived the great fire of 1871.
Located at 806 North Michigan Avenue, it is a contributing building to the Old Chicago Water Tower District landmark district and now serves as a Visitors Center.
The architect of this sand-castle like building is William W. Boyington.
