Marsden is in a deep sided valley in the Pennines. The National Trust own a lot of land in the hills surrounding Marsden with over 100 miles of public footpaths, including parts of the Pennine Way long distance trail.
This building contains offices but also an exhibition hall, giving details of what can be seen round here.
As well as the moorland countryside there is also a lot of history from the industrial revolution.
This includes Standedge Tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. At 3.2 miles it is the longest canal tunnel in Britain, but also the highest and deepest.
The building is in the free car park for the visitor centre for the Standedge Tunnel. It is actually a 15 minute walk from there along the canal towpath There is also limited disabled car parking at the visitor centre itself.
