Adnams was established in 1890 when The Sole Bay Brewery in Southwold was purchased in 1872 by George and Ernest Adnams. There had been a brewery on this site as early as 1396
The best of Adnams are their three regular, traditionally made cask beers, Bitter, Broadside and Explorer. They produce a larger range of bottled beers that sell through independent retailers and supermarkets throughout the region.
The company have, in recent years, started to produce Gin and Vodka but these have not made the impact that their well regarded beers have.
Many British breweries produce lagers, often on license. Not so Adnams.
The brewery is located centrally in the small east coast town of Southwold where there are less than a dozen pubs. Of course, the beers are available everywhere here.
Tours are available and there is a huge gift and kitchen shop.
