The Grand Ducal palace is the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Henri (2000–present), and where his duties as head of state are performed.
From 1572 to 1795 this building was the City Hall of Luxembourg. In 1817, the palace became the residence of the Governor. With the accession of the House of Nassau-Weilburg in 1890, the palace became the exclusive residence of the Grand Duke and his family.
