The monument for Cpl. Philip H Hess is located at Pequannock Township High School. Cpl Hess was a graduate of the class of 1964. The memorial is a stone monument in front of a evergreen tree that was planted in his honor. Routinely there is a paper in a protective plastic cover that tells a little bit about Cpl. Hess. The paper notes that he was slated to go on R&R before Christmas, but chose to stay in order to finish his tour sooner. A memorial service was held in May, 1967 to dedicate the tree and the monument.
