The artist for this sculpture was Larry R Carsell, 1982. There is a small plaque on the base of the sculpture with his name inscribed and the year.
The sculpture is in a garden setting on the north side of 9 Mile Rd, approximately half way between Novi Rd and Meadowbrook Rd.
The earth appears to be held by three mechanical like fingers and a thumb.
