This is the monument for the former Synagogue of Hannover, Germany, Niedersachsen which was destroyed at 9th November 1938 in the so called 'Reichspogromnacht'. The Synagogue was located in the street 'Rote Reihe'.
The syagogue was built in 1870.
Near to the monument there are several christian churches and institutions. Not faraway is a jewish cemetery.
There are several plaques written in German an in Hebrew.
One inscription is 'Vergesst nie' (Never forget).
Another is '15.9.1870 - 9.11.1938'
A long inscription is
'Ungestillt rinnt die Träne um die erschlagenen unseres Volkes. Jer 8.23
Hier stand die Synagoge das Gotteshaus der jüdischen Gemeinde unserer Stadt
fevelhaft zerstört am 9. Nov. 1938.
Zur Erinnerung und Mahnung.'
