This 21-story hotel was built from 1908 and completed in 1910. It was named The Blackstone Hotel was named for Timothy Blackstone, a notable Chicago business executive and politician. He was the founding president of the Union Stock Yards, president of the Chicago and Alton Railroad, and mayor of La Salle, Illinois.
The Blackstone is a 22-floor rectangular structure and its structural steel frame is cased in tile and plaster fireproofing. The majority of the building rises as a 12-story shaft of red brick dotted with white, terra cotta window surrounds.
In 2000, the hotel fell into disrepair and was closed. Later, in 2008, it reopens after being restored by the Renaissance Hotels, a division of Marriott Hotels. My room, has a old flair with modern convenences.
