This pole has a carved face and seems to be holding a type of lolly, there is a Cafe nearby. Also is a small animal figure carved lower down.

Joseph Locke 1805-1860 was a noted english civil engineer. In 1861 his widow, Pheobe, made a gift which was to purchase some land for the benefit of the people of Barnsley. Land was acquired and the Peoples Park was opened. This is now known as Locke Park and looked after by Barnsley MBC. In the park is a statue of Joseph Locke, waymark WMA4QB.

The park is situated on park Road, Barnsley where the main gate is; the entrance to the free car park is in Keresforth Hall Road where there is a welcome notice board and map.
