Land was acquired and the Peoples Park was opened. This is now known as Locke Park and looked after by Barnsley MBC. In the park is a statue of Joseph Locke, waymark WMA4QB.
The park is situated on park Road, Barnsley where the main gate is; the entrance to the free car park is in Keresforth Hall Road where there is a welcome notice board and map.
