If walls could talk, this one-room school would have lots of stories to tell. Constructed in 1887 in rural Vernon Township, it served as a schoolhouse for more than 50 years before it was moved to its present location in 1998. Restored by the Dows Historical Society it displays its original blackboards, desks, and books. The town has landscaped the grounds with trees and shrubs native to the area. Local children still enjoy visiting this historical school, learning the 3 R’s the old fashioned way, ringing the bell and sitting in the dunce stool in the corner.
