This historical Burlington Northern/Rock Island depot, built in 1896, was the first train station to be constructed in Wright County. It operated as a depot until 1980 and was then restored by the Dows Historical Society eight years later to create an Iowa Welcome Center. The center offers a wide selection of travel information, Iowa souvenirs, and hand made items. A museum with railroad memorabilia and items of local historical significance are on display at the south end of the building. Restrooms and a telephone are also available for the tourists’ convenience. The depot was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
Hours of Operation: 9-5 Monday through Saturday and 12-5 Sundays; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day and Easter
